UPCOMING EVENTS IN JUNE 2025

mozart 100™ by UTMB®: Local roots, global reach

First Austrian event of the 2025 season, mozart 100 by UTMB® returns to Salzburg, on 7 June, with 3,200 runners expected across six race formats: 100M, 100K, two 50Ks, 20K and a 9km. While the event continues to attract a strong contingent of German participants, nearly 25% of entrants are Austrian – highlighting the race’s strong regional identity taking place amid the breathtaking landscapes of Salzburger Land.

A strong elite field is expected across all distances, reinforcing the event’s growing european appeal. Andrzej Witek (POL, UTMB Index 904), recent winner of the 100K at the Tenerife Bluetrail by UTMB®, will be lining up for this same distance, as will Spain's Anna Tarasova (UTMB Index 770). Claudia Tremps (ESP, UTMB Index 745) and Ivan Hrastovec (SVN, UTMB Index 816) will be lining up for the 100M, while the 50K will see Davide Magnini (ITA, UTMB Index 895) and Benedikt Hoffmann (GER, UTMB Index 875) battle it out. Katarina Lovrantova (SVK, UTMB Index 694), meanwhile, will be out for revenge after finishing 3rd on the podium in the 50K last year.

mozart 100 by UTMB is also about human stories. One such is that of Judith, who lives with multiple sclerosis. Defying medical expectations, she continues to pursue her passion for running and will once again be on the start line. Read her story.

The event also actively supports the Wings for Life association, which funds research projects to combat spinal cord injuries. By registering for one of these races, runners are invited to make a donation to the charity. Find out more. To follow on live.utmb.world

Trail du Saint-Jacques by UTMB®: Celebrating tradition and community in its 13th edition

Returning for its 13th edition, from 13 to 15 June, Trail du Saint-Jacques by UTMB® is set to welcome nearly 7,000 runners to the wild beauty of France’s Haute-Loire region. A new addition to this year’s programme, Le 12 du Dolaizon offers an accessible 12km route connecting Saint-Christophe-sur-Dolaizon to Le Puy-en-Velay. The route joins a varied line-up of 5 existing formats: 100M, 100K, 50K, 20K and the Rando 26km – a hike.

Deeply rooted in the region, the event draws 34% of participants from the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes, including 12% from Haute-Loire. They will be joined by runners from 58 countries, with strong representation from Belgium, Switzerland and the United Kingdom. Women will make up 22% of the field across all distances.

Following the success of the initiative at the Grand Raid Ventoux by UTMB®, the event once again partners with the GoFast association, offering a dedicated women’s WhatsApp group to encourage exchange, support and progression in trail running – helping make the sport more accessible for all. Trail 100 Andorra™ by UTMB®: A trail adventure in the heart of the Pyrenees

Trail 100 Andorra™ by UTMB® returns in 2025 for its 5th edition, from 13 to 15 June. With 3,200 participants expected the event continues its upward trajectory, drawing a strong majority of Spanish runners – particularly from Catalonia, who account for 30% of the field – and a significant number of French participants. Female participation continues to rise, with 100 more women registered compared to the 2024 edition. This growth is supported by the WOMEN STEP UP programme, which encourages more women to take on ultra-trail running through professional coaching and dedicated webinars.

Among them are 82-year-old Antonio Cabo, the oldest runner taking on the 20K, and Fanny Barbara, a member of the HOKA UTMB Mont-Blanc 2025 Team Adaptive, who will be tackling the 50K. Both exemplify the inclusive spirit of trail running.

Torrencial Chile by UTMB®: First edition as part of the UTMB World Series celebrating generational diversity and local spirit

Returning for its 9th edition in 2025, Torrencial Chile by UTMB® will once again bring trail running to the city of Valdivia, in the heart of Chile’s Los Ríos region. Western States™ 100-Mile Endurance Run: A landmark line-up for the 52nd edition

On 29 June 2025 the Western States™ 100-Mile Endurance Run – the world’s oldest 100-mile trail race – will celebrate its 52nd edition, tracing the legendary route from Olympic Valley to Auburn, California. This year 369 runners will take on the course, with 73% representing the United States and women making up 27% of the field. Famed for its unique atmosphere and uncompromising physical challenge, the 2025 edition will feature six runners aged over 70, including 80-year-old Nick Bassett, who already holds the distinction of being the race’s oldest ever finisher, having completed the event at age 73 in 2018. On the sporting front, the men's race was shaping up to be the toughest in the event's history, with the last three UTMB winners initially expected to line up at the start, following the battle at the Chianti Ultra Trail by UTMB® last March. In the end, Jim Walmsley (UTMB Index 945) will not be able to defend his title this year, after winning in 2023 and 2024. Kilian Jornet (UTMB Index 941) and Vincent Bouillard (UTMB Index 905) will be looking to come out on top in what promises to be an exciting battle. Among the women, the competition promises to be more open, with a dozen contenders capable of winning, including Fuzhao Xiang (CHN, UTMB Index 795), Eszter Csillag (HUN, UTMB Index 782) and Emily Hawgood (ZWE, UTMB Index 772), who came 2nd, 3rd and 4th respectively last year. Marianne Hogan (UTMB Index 777) will also be at the start after winning her Golden Ticket at The Canyons Endurance Runs by UTMB. This year will also mark a powerful moment for inclusivity as Adam Popp, a transfemoral amputee, attempts to become the first athlete with an above-knee amputation to finish the race. Remaining true to its core values, Western States® 100-Mile Endurance Run continues to champion inclusion and sustainability. Roundtables hosted by Rising Hearts and Trail Sisters will focus on equity in trail running, while environmental efforts will be strengthened through the race’s Green Committee and dedicated recycling initiatives at Aid Stations.
